Approximate Purchase Date: This week for sure.

Budget Range: $3500

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Power through any game on the market...while at the same time look like it cost money. I want my ex-wife to see it and know it cost money.

Are you buying a monitor: I'm thinking dual monitor setup. I've always wanted it, so I think it's time. The budget can increase a little if necessary.

Parts to Upgrade: N/A

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I'm not tied to any specific website.

Location: City, State/Region, Country - Bremerton Washington

Parts Preferences: I will definately have a i7 8700k and a 1080 ti in this system, I prefer a red/black scheme.

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Your Monitor Resolution: Up in the air here. I would like to get the most out of the system. My TV is a possibility at the beginning, but would like to dual monitor at some point.

Additional Comments: This will be my first build, so keep that in mind. I'm recently divorced active duty Navy(15 years today). This is my welcome to the single life gift to myself. It's something I've wanted to do for years, but always had that nagging voice in my ear about spending money on something like this. I would like to keep the budget to around $3500. I do have a 65" LG OLED 4k TV that I could use as a temporary monitor for the desktop if that's something you would recommend. This is what I'm looking at right now. The things I'm not really sure on are how to make it look good on the interior. What motherboard to go with.

And Most Importantly, why are you upgrading: It's the bachelor life for me!

What I'm looking at:

CPU: Intel I7-8700k(must have)
CPU Cooler: Fractal Design Celsius S24 87.6 CFM liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z370 Godlike Gaming LGA 1151
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 3200 Memory
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSG
Seagate FireCuda 2TB 3.5" 7200 RPM Hybrid
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB Gaming X Video Card
Case: Cooler Master MasterCase Maker 5t ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA G2 850W

Thanks for the assistance!

Solution
SSD capacity is limited.
Ive just upped from a 500gb 850 evo to a 1tb for my gaming /apps drive as games are getting quite large. Keep HDDs just for media storage
Id recommend a 250gb SSD for o/s and office etc. and a 1tb SSD for games and programs.

Gone with a noctua instead of liquid cooling, a few degrees different but a whole different ballpark of reliabilty & no nonsense fuss.
Included full Win10 licence, not oem.
Blu ray drive if you want to rip bluray movies to .mkv

Regarding monitor, i dont recommend 2x monitors unless the 2nd being used as a helper. i.e. 1x main monitor you look at. No bezels and no setup or compatability issues.

Regarding montior ive included what i have, a samsung 16:9 32" 1440p. I prefer 16:9 to 21:9 as its much more practical for web, work & video use. The 21:9 also lacks vertical height. Note thats its 60hz. Hopefully we see some large 16:9 gsync monitors on the horizon.
I havent recommended a 4K monitor as no single video card can run it fluently and SLI is just a headache.

Note that this pc doesnt care about looks. Its performance and quality. Im from the school of 'a pc should ideally be neither seen nor heard'. All focus to the monitor.
