Pci gpu not working, monitor no signal

The pc is able to boot just fine. I tried different cables as well such as hdmi and dvi on 2 different monitors in both the motherboard alone and with dvi/hdmi plugged into gpu. The motherboard seems to be fine because the lights and cpu fan runs. The only other issue is when gpu (gtx 1050ti) is plugged in the pci 16 slot on the motherboard, the fan doesnt work meaning its not powered on? Perhaps a compatibility issue but hoping its not bc the gpu or motherboard is damaged in any way. I already unplugged the gpu and plugged it back in. All wiring are in the correct spots. Would there be another reason why? This is my first pc build.

Specs:
Intel pentium g4560
Motherboard: MSI B250M PRO VDH
Gigabyte gtx 1050ti
Corsair cxm 2015 450w

Turn system off unplug PSU from wall outlet and and re-seat RAM sticks and graphics card and all connections (power and data).

If you have an old system with another working graphic card you can test that old card in the X16 slot to see if the slot works or not.

You said apparently card does not power on "when gpu (gtx 1050ti) is plugged in the pci 16 slot". You can also test the 1050 Ti in another system to make sure it works.

Does the VGA LED turn on? If it's red it means the inserted card is working at X16 speed.

Can you get signal on monitor from motherboard ports and CPU integrated graphics?
