Wanting to upgrade to an i7 cpu, which would be the best option? My current motherboard is a MSI H81-P33.

Budget is around $200-300

If you want to upgrade only the CPU then get the i7 4790 but i don't see the point you used a K-series SKU in a H81 mobo.

IMO don't upgrade anything right now. There's literally no point in spending money on older hardware. Save up and get a new system, you'll get better value for money.
