So today I picked up some new ddr3 pny anarchy ram 2x8gb and noticed how much ram I was replacing which was 6 sticks 2 of which were 2gb and the other four(blue) sticks were 1gb each. I put the new ones in the same color latch slots which were white. I was wondering if i did this right i put them far from the cpu cooler... and could i by chance put the two 2gb ram sticks in aswell in the other white latch slots and one in a black latch slot? and if so what would be the best way to do this all of them in the white latch slots? i have 6 ram slots.

Do you have any reason to use the old RAM? 16GB is enough for anything except professional applications.
If they all worked together they would have to operate at the lowest common frequency and [highest] timings. So there is a good reason not to use them if they are different speeds and/or different timings.
