let's say for example i wanna run a Geforce GTX 950 and a Geforce GTX 1050, is this possible? or at least is it possible to run a gtx 950 with any other card at all? thanks

Solution
Cards have to be the same model and support SLI on top of the motherboard supporting SLI. GTX950 supports SLI but the GTX1050 does not.

Plus, SLIing isn't very good. SLI 950s will never run at twice the speed of a single 950 and with support for multi-GPU solutions getting worse, you'll often not even get better performance than a single 950.

SLI/Crossfire is only really recommended these days when you're at the very top of the market and you're SLIing, say, 1080tis, because in this case, there's no single GPU that can replace that SLI performance, even if it doesn't scale as well as one would like.
