Hi guys,
I'm stuck between the i5 8600k and the i7 8700 (non k) as the price for the i7 8700k price is just really to high for me rn. If I overclock the i5 8600k to 5ghz will it out perform the i7 8700 (non k) a bit, cuz I saw somewhere they mentioned it. I'll be using it to game and compiling Android kernel and rom in Linux.
What u guys think??

That depends on how you will use it.
For multi-tasking and multi-threaded work, the 8700 with its larger cache and hyper-threading will typically be faster.
For gaming, an overclocked 8600k will be faster. Games are most dependent on the speed of 1-2 cores and nothing else. A few will use a little more, but those are the outliers. And the video card will play a larger role in gaming reguardles. Remember that overclocking is not a right. There is no guarantee any CPU will hit 5ghz. I think it likely that few will. So don't take it as a given that yours will.

Which matter more to you gaming or other activities? How confident are you in your overclocking skills? The answer to these two will tell you which CPU is the right one for you.

Ok... So I got frustrated and just went with the i7 8700k as all motherboard supposed overclocking cpu.
Expected to get it by next week and finally complete my building.
Long waited paid off...
Should have waited till next year to build this new system but just wanted before Christmas as this may be my greatest Christmas gift :D
