All the Athlon's above a 750K will overclock about the same and you wont notice a difference in performance, the issue is the entire line just isn't that strong. They struggle with current AAA titles @ 1080p unless you reduce the settings, now that is paired with a stronger GPU like a 1050Ti. GTA 5 and other games that are heavy Multiplayer will really tax these CPU's.

If I was to build something new on a budget I would look at a Ryzen 3 1300x "$99", i3 7100 "$99", Athlon 950 "$60", G4560 "$70" and at least a 1050GT or Rx 460 then you have upgrade potential and a CPU that is stronger than the entire FM2 line in gaming.

That depends on what your doing. A 1030gt isn't all that strong of a GPU if your concern is 1080p gaming then it will struggle, the same can be said for the 870K. What is your planned use of the system?

people say the 860k which isnt as good as the 870k pairs well with the 1050 so i think the gpu will max out most of the time now that i put extra thought into it. so my gpu might bottleneck it.
