Alright so my friend needs a gaming rig but he's on a tight budget. His favorite game right now is PUBG and i want the rig to be capable of performing well in that game especially. Here's what I've got so far:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Phtz2R
i5 7500 cpu
AsRock b250m pro4 mobo
Ripjaw series V DDR4 2400 ram 2x4gb
EVGA GTX 1050 ti
Thermaltake SMART series 650w PSU
Apevia X-Pioneer green case
plus an existing 1tb HDD with an existing windows 7 installation and a spare optical drive... i've tried look all this up but some of the things just seem to be hard to put my finger down on.
Main question besides the general 'is this a good idea' thing is that I know kaby lake doesn't like win 7 but can we limp it to the barn with this until he has the money to add on an SSD with win 10 in a couple months or so? And is there anything fancy we'll have to do to get it running or will the hardware installation discs be enough? i was hoping having his win 7 already installed on the old hdd would simplify it.
beyond that should he also look at adding in more than 8 gigs of ram? i've heard PUBG uses a heap of it so I was thinking probably later but not essential for right now... does that sound about right or is 8 enough for the long haul?
I also thought about building him a crappier G4560 rig but I was afraid it would be too meager for PUBG.. but I haven't played the game so I honestly am just going on a few hours of searching forums and review sites and benchmarks and such when trying to figure this all out.. am I underestimating that little guy or is crappy the right term to be using with it?
either way that's the situation and i'd love to get a little feedback from the outside world on this. I don't know whether I'm overkilling this or if he's gonna boot up his game and be disappointed after spending all this money if it runs like crap... i've tried my best to hone in on the sweet spot and this is what i've come up with. if anyone with more experience on this stuff could give me their opinion on it i'd really appreciate it!
