Currently have an i7 6700 equipped with an GTX1080 Ti, trying to figure out what cpu I would need for decent 4k gaming.

I want the new 8700, but it is sold out, and most likely for ages to come. Is it worth getting the 7700k? Will it run decent 4k gaming?

Thank you for your time and paitence,
Rhys

Sound like your monitor is only a 60Hz monitor that is why you wont get higher than 60fps on 1080p.

Is looking to get a 4k monitor, though does already have a 4k tv. Tried to run it through the tv, and only got 30fps with Shadow of War.

Am looking to be able to get decent (maybe 40 - 50) fpd for Assassin's Creed Origins in 4k. Was told that my CPU is too weak to run the GPU, with a 10% bottleneck. Was looking to get the 8700, but sold out here in Aussie unless you order over seas.

Your TV might only support 30Hz @ 4K...thats why your only seeing 30fps. You do not need a CPU to get 60fps @ 4K on games.

Your CPU is fine. Your 1080ti will do 60fps @4K , but you might need to turn some setting down to maintain a solid 60fps.

So can anyone suggest a good 4k monitor for under a $1000? Is there truly any difference between FreeSync and GSync? Or refresh rates, for that matter...?

Thank you to all for your help, it is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I will not be able to comment, I still use a 1080p monitor.
