First off id like to say thank you tremendously beforehand to anybody that responds to this.
Ok so i have a toshiba 3tb external HD and about a week ago my network was hacked and the hackers started taking over my whole computer and once i realized it in the heat of the moment i unplugged my external and quickly shut my computer down. After doing everything i needed to do to get rid of the hackers for good and making sure they couldn't return i plugged my external back in and it showed as an empty drive i looked in disk management and was quick to learn it was raw so after a few hours of googling i ran the testdisk program and learned that everything was still there and the filesystem was in excellent shape and that i needed to restore the partition so i did and i did it MBR using the testdisk program and restarted my computer only to see that it wouldn't even show up as a drive anymore in windows explorer or in disk management but it still shows in testdisk and shows the whole partition there. I am bot sure if i used the wrong partition table if i should of used GTP or what i may have did wrong as i just followed what testdisk recommended i do. It has about 2.60 terabytes of pictures and videos of my son and daughter on it from the day they were born till now and i'd hate to lose all of those memories. I thought about copying the files to another drive but can't afford to buy one and the program said copying the files would take a few days and i wouldn't wanna chance something messing up between now and the time copying is done so before i take that risk i thought id pose my dilemma to the experts to see if they had any insight on this. Any info on what to do or not to do would be greatly appreciated and once again thank you so much to anyone that responds.
