Hey Everyone,

I just finished building my ryzen 7 1700. I have the msi b350 tomahawk and it is currently running on version .160 and now there is .190. Problem is that when i turn on game boost for the motherboard, it actually drops to 1.55 ghz instead of the stock 3.0. Also when i try switching the xmp profile, it continues to remain at 2133 mhz. Would you say that in this case i should update the bios? I will be mostly using it for gaming/ school work.

Also if I do update it, do i need a bootable usb to use m flash or can it be any normal usb? Some sites show bootable whereas others show just a regular storage usb. Any important thinigs i should consider when updating bios?

here are the specs:
cpu: ryzen 7 1700
mobo: msi b350 tomahawk
psu: evga 550 g2
gpu: r9 280x
ram: g skill 4 series 3000 mhz
cooler: noctua nh d15s

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Just a regular USB drive will do. The BIOS update utility will let you choose the folder and file. Just be sure you don't power down while it updates and let it finish and it will reboot.

Hey, where do i get the BIOS update utility? Is it built in m-flash or is this something i have to download manually. In the update folder i only see the bios file.
