I was wondering if anyone knows about this:

http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/desktops/new-xps-tower-special-edition/spd/xps-8930-desktop/dxps8930se_fsb_h6e

With a 10% of coupon which I have, this will come out to $1575 Canadian (including taxes and shipping). This is about $1,250 US.

This LOOKS like an awesome deal on paper. An i7 8700 + GTX 1070 is awesome for 1080p gaming at 144 Hz (which is what I want to do).

Here are some questions that I have:

1) I am worried about the 8 gb 2666 Mhz single channel ram. Ideally I would want to have 2x8gb @ 3000 or 3200 but that will require basically buying that separately. Is the 8gb @ 2666 enough? I looked at benchmarks that show negligible gaming difference between single and dual channel but I also seen many people talk about never going single channel as it reduces performance by a lot.

2) Is is worth it to upgrade to an 8700k for $90 CAD more and to a GTX 1080 for a $180 CAD? Normally that upgrade to the 8700k is worth the cost but I am afraid that I won't have ample cooling/power to overclock it, thus making the "k" essentially useless

3) Does this look like it has enough cooling/power to get all cores to 4.3 under load if I only go for the 8700 (non-k)?

4) Is this a good deal overall?

Solution
Those cases are awful at overclocking due to poor air flow I would rather stick with the non k i7-8700, (unless you are planning on getting a better case with more fans and a better cooler). I think that's not a bad deal for a PC equipped with the new 8 generation i7 and the GTX 1070, for extra $180 the 1080 is a fair deal since they are usually $100+ more than the 1070 and it needs a better PSU. But like you have stated i rather have 2x8GB of ram instead of just 8 single channel but you should be able to add another RAM stick (later on).

I edited that, I meant to say that extra $180 is a fair deal for the 1080. The Ti would set you back another 300+
