So i'm building a new gaming/working computer and just wanted to get your feedback on the matter at hand. So let's get this out of the way.

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor (TDP 65W)

CPU Cooler: Deepcool - GAMMAXX S40 54.2 CFM CPU Cooler (TDP 130W)

MOTHERBOARD: Gigabyte - Z370 HD3 ATX LGA1151

MEMORY: G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory

VIDEO: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Armor 8G OC

CHASSIS: Cougar - Panzer Max ATX Full Tower Case

So a few comments from my end.

CPU: I'm a software infrastructure engineer and i usually run a few VMs + Dockers in my machine often so i really want to leverage the 6core/12threads from the newest generation from Intel.

CPU Cooler: The specs for dissipation and fan noise seem alright and from the dimensions the cooler will fit with nicely enough (with 27mm to spare - from the specs).

MOTHERBOARD: Needs to be compatible with the CPU, already has the chipset necessary for the latest CPU from intel.

MEMORY: 16GB should be more than enough. Don't know if going further than 2400MHz will be worth it. I do not intend to do overclocking. (The CPU is locked so its fine for me).

VIDEO: I do want to play games with proper settings. My current pc is getting outdated. 1080 instead of 1080TI seems more than enough for my needs. This card doesnt have backplate but it shouldn't matter much.

CHASSIS: And finally the chassis. I do love the overral design and everyhing is compatible. (Correct me if I skipped anything. THe only thing i did not check is the memory head room with the cooler).

STORAGE: SSD of course (don't know if i will opt for M.2 or not).

POWER SUPPLY: Something around 550W should be enough.

Give me your opinions.

Ty,

M.2 is not a bad option if you already at this level. A 250GB is recommended and for mass storage you can use a 1 TB HDD. The power supply should be decently rated, at least from EVGA, Seasonic or Corsair.

I may be biased, but I would recommend the NZXT S340 as it is pretty good.
