How can I fix this resolution problem?

I am currently using a TV as a monitor, which is most likely the cause of this problem, I will also add that I realize this problem is probably unfix-able.
My screen has a native resolution of 1366 x 768, this is only available as a 1080p resolution setting in NVIDIA Control Panel.
However this screen is only 720p, this means that when using the native resolution, then scaling it to fit the screen, there is intense flickering.
I'd assume there's a way to have my screen play at 1366 x 768 (720p), however I can't seem to find any way through the control panel - neither can I find another with the same problem.
Along with this, It is possible for me to play without flickering, by playing at the highest 720p setting, however this is unsuitable as the screen is 26", leaving all seemingly engorged and painful to the eyes.

Finally, I fear that if possible to set the screen to 1366 x 768 (720p), that the aforementioned problem would once more occur and the screen would be oversized, I'm pretty sure there isn't any fix for this but I thought I might as well try.

720p is actually 1280 x 720

if the native resolution is 1366 x 768 then just create that resolution in the nvidia software

I'm afraid that didn't fix anything, there is no flickering however it was already like that with any 720p resolution (which isn't just 1280 x 720, as rectangular pixels are generally used in a TV).

There's still the secondary problem of the over-sized screen, it would be the correct scaling for a screen about 10-11 inches, but looks ridiculous and unplayable on a 26" screen.

make and model of the tv?

and yes 720p is 1280 x 720

unless you have a 4:3 screen then it becomes 960 × 720

It's not particularly good, I mean.. at all, but it was a kind of 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' moment.

Also, although the pixel count is 1280 x 720, you can't just consider it such when talking about resolution, it may just be the XGA resolution - but it's possible for a lower resolution to work just as well with a higher, which could be a possible solution here.

Again, this did not fix anything - the image already fit the screen before this post, however the problem is that when I have it as such with the correct resolution, the screen looks as such:

Yet with a 1824 x 1026 resolution, how I normally have it, it looks like this:

This is a good size and everything is readable, but there is constant flickering.
The smaller resolution, while being suitable for a small screen, means I can't fit all my shortcuts on my desktop and my cursor is half the size of my head.
Essentially, I just need the screen the same resolution but everything looks smaller.
