I am not a very tech savvy guy but water was spilled on the motherboard while running, got everything wetted. I am buying a new motherboard and processor (upgrading to a Z270 and an i7-7700k from a Z170 and i7-6700k in the process). I want to make sure when I plug it all in and hook up the graphics card and additional drives that I have, they will work with each and I won't lose data on the D: drive (before the spill I saved everything to that drive). Is this possible?

Z270 will work fine with 7700K. Your other components should as well, if they did not get damaged by water. If you have other drive for OS, then all your data on other drive is safe and will be accessible - because most likely you will have to make clean Windows install.

So everything should connect fine then? I am not sure about having another drive for the OS. I wasn't sure where it resides. All my files I saved on the D: drive but everything else was on the main thing or whatever. I plan on reusing the RAM cards (I think that's what they are) that were in the existing motherboard when it got wet. They're dry and don't appear to have any damage to them. The graphics card did get wet but it was just a little spray on top. I dabbed it all off. I do still have the windows installation disc that came with the PC when I first bought it so I should just be able to load that right? Same with the graphics disc?
