I would like to buy myself a new gtx 1070 but I see the prices on the nvidea website for one is significantly cheaper than the likes of amazon. The name of the 1070 on nvidea website is just plain and simple, “GeForce GTX 1070” and I am confused because the names of 1070s have additional info in the title and I am unsure if this makes a difference or not? And if it does should I not buy off of nvidea?

Video cards direct from Nvidia are reference design, meaning stock speeds and a blower cooler design. I would recommend buying a factory overclocked version from the likes of EVGA, MSI, or ASUS from Amazon if that's your only alternative (check NewEgg as they often have rebate offers). Beside that reason, I've heard that dealing with Nvidia directly if you have a failure on your card and need to RMA it is an absolute nightmare.
