Which CPU is better?

1. Intel Core i5 2500s

or

2. Intel Core i7 4500u

Power consumption and heat emissions are not an issue, so I would like to know the one with better performance.

Looking at benchmarks they seem surprisingly close, the 4500U makes up for less cores and lower clock speed with newer architecture.
I don't think you'd honestly notice much difference. The 2500s has a slight edge in horsepower but the 4500U has better graphics and is a lot newer so it's probably going to depend on what you do with them and the rest of the system specs more than the CPU alone.
