Can someone tell me if this build will work?

Something Like this would be worth looking into, but yeah.. a little higher budget on this one. For today you really don't have a huge need on such a massively overpowered GPU... (or you could if you have something specific in mind).

And if you will get another GPU later.. it won't be a 1080.. it'll probably be a 2080. Anyway.. have a look, you've got plenty of feedback here

CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor ($414.89 @ B&H)
CPU Cooler: NZXT - Kraken X62 Rev 2 98.2 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($148.89 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus - ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($197.99 @ SuperBiiz)...

Yes i would say there is a lot of wasted money there. Mainly in the GPU and cooler.

That's the old gen Maxwell GTX Titan X, which is equal in performance to a newer GTX 1070 ($430). He might as well go with a GTX 1080 Ti ($750), or a new Pascal Titan XP ($1200).

The HXi is the best Corsair PSU there, a really nice PSU but 1000W is not needed.

What kind of monitor will he be using? (Resolution and refresh rate?) Then we can talk about whether or not he should go with Intel instead of Ryzen.

A better way to keep up with a parts list is to use https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ then share the permalink.

*Oh, I just saw the cooling solution. A huge waste with Ryzen. Ryzen will OC to a max of 4.0GHz on a $40 cooler just the same as it will a $400 cooler. Intel can really use a large custom water loop.

Get GTX 1080Ti ($750). It is not worth extra $450 to get new Pascal Titan XP ($1200) for 5 to 10% gain.

If the PC is for gaming, go with i7 8700K Z370 mb. There is a rumor that Intel will release Z390 with 8 cores CPU but there is no official news. 8700K can overclock to 5GHz or more with water cooling. Ryzen overclock to around 4 Ghz and IPC is not as good as Intel.

Just to say that is 100% total garbage forget what the people are saying that have no clue. A simple GTX 1070ti has better performance for 1/2 the price.

This pretty much stomps your build for 1K less with a 1TB SSD to load all games on and enough power to add another of the video cards. Still 500 bucks cheaper if you add 2 of the video cards.

You sound like you're saying we don't know what we're talking about. The parts OP listed are not garbage, but they're prices might be. I wouldn't recommend a 1070 Ti until I know what resolution he will be using.
