Adding dual channel sets for 1 quad channel set?

Is buying one 8 piece set of quad channel ram the same as using two 4 piece sets of dual channel ram?

Is there any performance issues/ issues meeting the advertised speed since the 2 sets weren't tested to work in a set of 8

Yes.
And "no"

Getting a quad kit = you are 100% sure it will work

Getting 2 dual kits = it will work 95% of the time but there is a slim chance it will not work. 2 identical kits but different batch can cause issues... Not often it happens but it can.


And no there is no "performance issues/ issues meeting the advertised speed" since if you go and buy 2 separate modules you will have dual channel.
Buy 3 separate modules you will have tripple channel.
4 then ofc quad channel.

Only difference like stated is that buying the kit you are guaranteed for it to work (unless if one of the modules are faulty from the factory)
