Cooling faulty, improperly installed, or normal? EDIT: Software reading Clarification/Concerns

Setup: 7700k with s24 celsius CPU cooler in a Enthoo Pro M case (1 intake front fan, 1 exhaust back fan); radiator fans exhausting out top

Small FTTs on Prime95 26.6, 8 threads; core temp 1.1 Temperature reader; factory clocked; ~10 minute run time; 66F room temperature

Data:
Core 0 Max: 83;
Core 1 Max: 79
Core 2 Max: 80
Core 3 Max: 80
Max of about 7C between multiple cores, usually between Core 0 and Core 1

Concerns: Does this sound like reasonable data for this set up?

As I understand it, this is basically the closest to full utilization that the processor will get, so when I choose to overclock, what is the maximum temperature I should allow during this test?

My guess is that you’re seeing what a single Core is loaded at. The 12% CPU utilization you see in Task Manager is accounting for all...

I'm using the default settings for the S24, so I probably can get a bit more performance out of it by switching it to PWM mode as well.


On a somewhat seperate, but related issue:
So perhaps I misunderstand how things work, but upon starting my computer DrvUpd.exe (32 bit) [this is a Gigabyte App Center process] is using ~12% CPU constantly (and nothing else exceeds 1% at idle). However when examining the temperature with Core temp 1.11, it lists the core running this process as 65C and at 50% load. Is core temp measuring the power load instead? And if so is that an appropriate amount of power being used for only 12% utilization?

Four cores = 25% per core. 50% of 25% is 12.5%.

Your 12% utilization reading is accurate.

My guess is that you’re seeing what a single Core is loaded at. The 12% CPU utilization you see in Task Manager is accounting for all of the cores load whereas Core Temp is showing you a single core is is loaded at 50% utilization.
