No, it will run at sata I speeds if you plug it into a sata I port. If your board has a spare pci-e slot you can buy a sata III controller card and plug the SSD into that for sata III speeds

It will work, but only at SATA I speeds, roughly 150mbps throughput. It will be more responsive than a traditional hard drive, just don't expect full SATA III speeds.
