Hi guys looking for a some help, I've come to use my old gtx 760 GPU and it wont display anything i just get a message on the screen saying cable not plugged in like the GPU's not being detected almost as if its dead... However, If i put it into the 8x slot everything works as it should i've updated the bios on my ax370 gaming 5 Mb to bios version 8, un installed any old drivers and i also updated to the latest driver for gtx 760, as of now im all out of ideas.

Sounds like a physical issue with the motherboard itself. You can either RMA the motherboard or simply leave the GPU in the 8x slot (only a few GPUs see any difference in performance at 16x instead of 8x, the bandwidth just isn't there yet in the majority of scenarios).

Thats what i thought at first but before i tried the gtx 760 i had a gtx 1060 in the x16 that ran perfectly and i've got a even older hd 5550 that runs in the x16 slot as well. For some reason it doesn't like the gtx 760... Do you think the new AM4 chipset could have very limited support for older cards? I know the HD 5550 works and thats even older but its one of AMD's older cards and not Nvidea's.
