Here is the backstory, I recently moved houses and I always transport my computer carefully in my car. After moving in it was about a week before we got our internet set up. Once our internet was set up I went to turn on the computer and it wouldn't power up. The CPU LED solid, so a quick google search pulled up numerous options.
What ended up working was me pulling off the heat sink and cleaning the CPU up and applying some new thermal paste. Once I applied new thermal paste it turned on like normal and functioned normally. That night I shut it down and again, the next morning the CPU led came on and it wouldn't start.. So I thought maybe I messed up on the thermal grease, so pulled it apart again and applied some new grease and voila it powered up.. So out of fear of that happening again I left the computer on for 3 weeks straight ( I normally shut it down every night). I finally moved into my office and low and behold I shut it down to move it there and it would not come on. CPU led came on again..
I'm wondering what else could cause something like this? I'm planning on building a new computer soon but this one needs to hold up for a couple more weeks. I'm not super computer savvy but I build this computer from scratch back in 2009 and replaced motherboard and cpu back in 2011. Been fine since until we moved and I left it off for a week.

Hey, Bjornl

Cpu is AMD FX 6300, just idling it's around 63 degrees F. Not sure if that's accurate. That's using Core Temp program. I used minimal amount or at least I think I did. Website I read said to put a BBsized drop in the middle of cpu.
