how to use onboard graphics

so if i currently have a i5 6400 processor and a radeon 480 can i sell the 480 and use my onboard graphics if so how do i connect my monitor to my pc without hdmi slots

That will depend, very much, on the motherboard you have. The Intel Core I5-6400 has the Intel® HD Graphics 530 so connecting to the monitor depends on what inputs the monitor has and what outputs the motherboard has.
