Hello im currently thinking about switching to ryzen for its price and good performance i have an i3 6100 and just recently bought a gtx 1060 6gb i noticed that my cpu is bottle necking my gpu which is also another reason why im upgrading. I have in mind the 5 1500x and the msi b350 tomahawk from msi. I would love to hear any other suggestions so please comment.

So you are gonna download the bios update from here https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/support/H110M-GAMING.html#down-bios onto a flash drive. Restart your pc and go into your bios and there should be an option on your bios main menu to update.

Simple as that, you are gonna need to do it with your current CPU in the slot.

I flashed the bios on my motherboard to support Kaby lake CPUs just like you, and I ended up having to reinstall my NVIDIA drivers, so you may need to do that as well.

Depending on how much you want to spend instead of buying a new CPU & motherboard you could just drop a i7 into that socket and be all set (no OS reinstall needed). Right now the 6700 and 7700K are a good price, just make sure your motherboard BIOS is up to date enough to support that Kabylake (7700K).

If you live near a Microcenter you can actually get the 7700K for $250!

It's much faster then that 1500X.

If your motherboard supports it, dropping an i7 7700k in there after a bios update is your best option with your budget, even without an overclock the thing is a beast.
