Ok, I have looked around for a similar situation but all I found was using a XBOX 360 HDD in you PC and Im looking to do some thing a little different.
This is what I have. My wife and I bought a XBOX 360 250 GB for our sons Bday a few years back and Believe me he definitely got ours monies worth out of it, He play it till it died. Me myself , Im a PC man but he loves his console. Now with that said, this last April it started this freezing problem on startup, he could go as far as the dashboard and then when he would try to load a game , or go anywhere for that matter, as soon as he click on anything it would freeze. Turn it off and back on again and same thing happens. Like I said Im a PC man so thinking on that I feel it is a corrupt HDD, I have removed the HDD and turned it on and I can do anything as far as the ram is concerned without freezing but as soon as I put the HDD back in and try anything as far as what is on the HDD it freezes right away, Hence the reason I feel it is the HDD. We didnt do anything but turned it off and it has sat since April, I am on a fixed income and My wife and I figured we would be able to save enough for the new XBOX ONE X for his Bday this November. Well wishes didnt come through and the funny thing is he just wants his 360 back, lol. Now here is where I could use some help, I dont have the money right now for a new HDD for his 360 but I do have a TOSHIBA 320GB HDD out of a laptop I dont use anymore. Here is my question, ( Sorry ) Is there a way that ( using my PC ) I can wipe out my old Lap top HDD ( Toshiba HDD2J13 320 GB ) and then transfer any info from old 360 250GB HDD and it will work in the XBOX 360 so that we can get it running for him? At lease for now.
Any info, how to's would be greatly appreciated.

Ok I still havent received any info on this so Im gona kinda wing it and see what happens,

This is my plan. Im going to connect the Toshiba HDD to my PC via USB to SATA cable,
Wipe the HDD clean and then connect it to my sons 360 via USB and have the xbox format it. at this point I still have a question and that is , is there a way I can transfer the info from his old 360 HDD ( which I believe to be corrupt and what is causing the freezing ) to the new one after formatting it? Please let me know and as always thank you for any info

Ok still no response on the xbox but I do have another question. I bought a SATA to usb cable to connect the laptop HDD to my PC so that I can manage the HDD, wipe it clean then connect the laptop HDD to the xbox with the same cable and then use it as storage. this is my problem. when I connect it to my PC windows loads the drivers and labels it as drive H:\ mass storage usb drive. but from that point I cant do anything with it. I try to wipe it in CCleaner , it says not accessible, and in disk management I can see the HDD but again still cant do anything with it. wipe, clean, format, nothing. I can change the drive letter but nothing else. Please help, can what Im trying to do be done? Please Please Please let me know. I am sooooo stump on this
