These are my current specs:
Ryzen 5 1600
MSI B350 Tomahawk
Corsair LPX 2x4 GB 2666
Zotac Geforce GTX 1080 AMP
Deepcool Kendomen Case with 5 120 mm fans
EVGA 500B, 500W 80+ Bronze PSU

I tried to upgrade my graphics card from r7 370 to Gtx 1080 and my system does not post with the GTX 1080. My monitor detects that its plugged into something, the greenlight on my card indicating that its being powered is on, the LEDs on the card are on and the fans are spinning. My monitor just stays as a black screen.

When I put my r7 370 back in, everything is fine. I used DDU and it said that I had nvidia and amd drivers installed on my computer, and DDU detects the 1080 (even when I don't have it plugged in). In device manager, I disabled the amd drivers, then unistalled then I used DDU and shutdown my computer. Put the 1080 back in, didn't do anything. Tried unplugging all my case fans, didn't do anything.

Tried plugging in DVI into motherboard, doesn't even detect it. (guess that makes sense due to Ryzen). And yes I've had the monitor plugged into the GPU everytime I've tested.

My friend thinks that it is a power supply problem, but isn't 500W enough to power the 1080? This system shouldn't be using more than 350-400W, no? If so, I'll just buy a new PSU, np. But what if that is not the problem, and it is a problem with my card?
I bought this 1080 secondhand, claimed to have never been used. There is no warranty.
Please help! I can't do much about this purchase, I need to get it to work.

While it is true that cards minimum is 500w your PSU is bronze certified and if it matters to you ranked around Tier 5. The problem could be your PSU simply not being efficient enough to maintain the power needs for your comp. The easiest way to tell is try your 1080 in another system to see if it post. If it does then you need to replace your PSU with 550w+ gold certified PSU. This should be nice https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015YEIBJ8/?tag=pcpapi-20 or just read some reviews on Jonnyguru and figure whats best for you.

Well first off I would completely uninstall the drivers for both GPU and installing for the 1080. Having both set of drivers may cause possible issues. The easiest way to tell would be to try the card in another system if you can.

I already tried uninstalling both drivers. I posted the image to show that the drivers got downloaded. Is that a good sign for the GPU? I'm gonna put it on my friend's PC tomorrow.

Another update: The card does not work on my friend's PC. But he has the same processor as me and an MSI motherboard like me (not the same model). It's not looking too good, I'm gonna try taking it to my friend who has Intel build on Sunday to see if it works.
