Reuse old harddrive in new PC build?

Hi! I'm currently doing some research for a new PC build. I've already got the graphics card bought, and the other parts selected. I'm trying to save as much money as I can, and was wondering if it is at all possible to put my old hard drive into the new build. I tried reading forums about this topic, but most people are concerned about their OS and files still being there once they put the old hard drive in the new rig. I personally don't care about them being their, so I was just wondering If it is at all possible to re - use this hard drive.

Alright. So, could I put the old harddrive in the new rig and put windows on a bootable USB?

I think you read my question wrong. I'm wanting to use my old hard drive as my primary drive in my new pc. Completely wipe my old one, and put it in my new one.
