Hi all,

I am looking to try and build my first gaming pc. I know the barest minimum about pc components and what is compatible with what. Also I don't know whether I would be needing to purchase any wiring etc in addition to the component parts lists I have seen on this website, so if you could let me know if I do that would be great. Any help would be very much appreciated! Specs etc below, thanks in advance for your time!

Approximate Purchase Date: this week (Black Friday!)

Budget Range: Max £600 (UK) after Shipping, already have processor and graphics card, see below.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, some CAD, image and parallel processing (currently 6 core)

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: I now have an i5 8400 processor and MSI gaming 1070ti grpahics card.

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any that deliver in the UK

Location: Scotland, central belt

Parts Preferences: None

Overclocking: I wouldn't know how to do this and would be afraid of breaking something!

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080 but would like a system that could go higher in the future

Additional Comments: On the gamin side I mainly play World of Warcraft. Up until now I have been on mid-low range laptops with settings all at low. My main reason for switching to a pc is for the possibility to upgrade parts as and when I need instead of having to buy a new laptop each time. Ideally I would like to buy something that would see me through the rest of this WoW expansion and the next one (which is being released 2nd half of next year) without the need to upgrade anything. I would prefer a pretty plain case and low noise since it will be living room based but not if it breaks the budget.

I am now looking at this build:
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/CZ9r3F

I took it from http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3573615/years-build-critique-suggestions.html#20406844 and converted to UK prices and changed out the power supply as it isn't currently in stock anywhere. Sorry if I should have replied there but the thread was solved.

From what I understand this should be capable of playing WoW at high (or max?) settings with >60fps unless in highly populated areas. I am also hoping that that would be the case on the next expansion also or at least 2 years before I would have to think about upgrading anything. Could anyone let me know if they think that is a reasonable expectation?

My last question is then, do I need anything in addition to this (I have externals like monitor, mouse etc) like any fans or cooling system?

Thanks for any help!

I have since bought an Intel i5-8400 retail processor and MSI GTX Gaming 1070ti graphics card. Went higher on the card as I realised I already have a windows license I can use. My questions above still apply though. I am looking at the motherboard now, something that has options for upgrades in the future. I liek to look of the Asus STRIX Z370-F GAMING one but thinking that it might be complete overkill. What do you think?
