hello, i am currently trying to find deals in order to upgrade my cpu/mobo/ram. I already determined that i'm going to buy the i7 8700k and fast DDR4 memory. However, i'm stuck on which mobo to get. Can you guys help me choose between these two motherboards? one has a good deal on it and the other doesn't.

Feel free to throw in your own suggestions for a mobo and ram ESPECIALLY if you see a deal on them. Thank you

Also do you guys know if my current heatsink will fit? (Corsair H70)

If you're curious, here's my current rig
i7 3770k @4.2ghz
Corsair H70 watercooling
msi z77a gd65 motherboard
16gb ddr3 ram
GTX 980 SC GPU
Corsair TX850W PSU

Yes, it'll work. The memory QVL over here https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z370-AORUS-Gaming-7-rev-10#support-doc doesn't include that exact model but it will work. The QVL is more of a guideline because they can't be expected to test every module on the market. Sure, there are some CPUs(looking at you Ryzen) that are very picky and one should pick RAM only from the QVL. If you would like to do that https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Vengeance-288-Pin-Desktop-CMK16GX4M2B3200C16R/dp/B014HCGJSI is my recommendation.

Ah ok thanks for the info. What do you think about the latency between the ram I linked and the one you linked? One has slightly lower latency than the other but i'm not sure if that matters much. If it doesn't then i may just look around more for cheaper ram thats preferably on sale for a little less than $200. That way i save up some money to get a new GPU also because i feel like my 980 will be a bottleneck on the 8700k. What do you think about that?

You won't notice the difference between 14 and 16. A benchmark like Firestrike or Heaven might show a negligible difference. Personally I'd stick with the 16. That's applying the KISS principle. Keeping it simple sir. Peace of mind has its value.

I'd opt for nothing less than the 1080. I don't see the Ti as being worth it.
