So i have a MSI Z97 PC Mate will it run an i5 processor?, and my graphics card is a GTX 1050.

And my power supply is 500w if so could you link me the processor?

Yes or course. The things is Z97 is older generation and they don't make CPUs for it anymore. Any new CPU for it is rare and is priced higher than when it was new. Your best option is to buy a pre-owned CPU from a reputable seller on eBay.

I would get a used 4790k or 4770k for that. Switching to coffee lake or ryzen would be better.

That's what I was saying, an i7 won't be much different than an i5 with your GTX 1050. But having an i7 would be better.
