My motherboard has Realtek ALC1150 built into it which isn't that good. I like listening to non compressed really good quality audio on my other equipment. But my sound card has always bottle necked my $500 headphones on my PC, I have a mix amp as well. Not super high end about $300 or so. Just trying to find a nice sound card external or internal. I know the external ones have the least amount of noise etc.... But I'm fine with internal as well.

Solution
The most obvious contender is the Creative Soundblaster Z, which is of reasonable high quality and offers a dedicated headphone amp, all for about $100. You get diminishing returns after that point, though very high end headphone users may want something akin to the ASUS Xonar Essence STX II or Creative Soundblaster ZXR that's more dedicated to headphone users.
