Keyboard typing issues

Hey, I own a Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition Essential and I have only had it for a few months. Now, whenever I type one of my keys, the "w" key to be exact, types itself like two or three times when I press once. For example, it would look sometime like this: Wwhen wew decided wwe had wanted to wwet our dog in the rain for his first time, we had wondered what it wwould have been like for our ancestors wwwho would do wownderous things such as winging the wild.

Now I know mechanical keyboards aren't invincible and that they will soon fail, but I've had this for only a short time. I don't believe it is my fault. Is my keyboard simply failing? Is this what people mean when they say razer doesn't last very long?

Normally a failure would have have several keys misbehaving.

Google "keyboard key matrix circuit" for more information.

Could just be a sticking "w" key. Some piece of debris or goo jamming things.

Disconnect the keyboard and turn it upside down over a cloth or some paper towels.

Tap the ends and sides with the heel of your hand. Firmly but gently.

Then try the keyboard again.

The next step would be to remove the "w" key and do some cleaning. Check your manual first.

So I tried it up to the tapping the keyboard, but it still happens. So, while I was testing again, I found that whenever I actuate the key, I use greens, it would type once, but, sometimes, when I pressed it down fully to where the keycap hit, it would type once more. It looks similar to when you would hold a key down to type it multiple times. Does this help with anything?
I'm avoiding removing the w key right now, in hopes of finding an easier solution. Thanks for replying.

That does help. Check your manual for additional cleaning instructions. Compressed air may help - must be done correctly and in accordance with Razer's cleaning instructions.

Check the following two links:

Any warranty left? If not, Razor's website was not too helpful (in my opinion anyway) with respect to possible repairs and parts.

You may be able to do some self repair.

Overall, depending on the circumstances you may still have some additional options available. Look for some relevant YouTube cleaning videos or perhaps 3rd party replacement parts but be aware that anything you do may cause more damage or loss of function. Decide what you are willing to try on your own and what risks you are willing to take with respect to any given possible fix.

Start with a warranty claim if you legitimately still have any remaining warranty available in lieu of any self-repair. That will avoid you being blamed for the failure.

Then the next step becomes DIY (Do it Yourself). E.g., removing the w key.... (Note: kit mentioned a key removal tool. Likely the tool is necessary to avoid possibly breaking the key or some internal part.)

However, someone else may offer additional ideas and suggestions based on similar experiences with the same keyboard. Any such suggestions are fine with me.
