Hi everyone !
Pardon me if this question already asked before im just switching my i5-4460 to Ryzen 1700
im using it for gaming 80% and the 20% rest is for video editing, streaming etc
and im wondering should i overclock my Ryzen to get more performance ?
say it if im overclock it to 3.8ghz how is that 0.8 ghz will affect my gaming performance ?
and what is the best overclock settings using ryzen stock cooler (clock speed, fan speed, and voltage) you guys recommend ?
and this is my specs :
- Ryzen 1700
- Asus Rog strix B350-F Gaming
- Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1
- Team Dark pro 2x8gb 3200mhz
- Superflower PSU 550w
and im playing on 1920x1080 @144hz
thanks ! and im sorry for my bad english

Solution
To notice a bottleneck on the proc side is quite easy.
Monitor the proc usage and the GPU usage, assuming the game is well optimized.
If the GPU still has room the breath but the proc is already at max...and...your fps is not increasing...you have a proc bottleneck.
OC will usually help.

You can reach high fps on most games, this is not a doubt but you will not get such fps on certain games....and...if you are not competing seriously, having above 90-100 fps is already ok.
As for me, I only OC only after I saw that the proc starts to bottleneck the the GPU on games.
For 144hz gaming, if you really wanna see 144fps, you might need to OC your R7 1700 on some games. If you really plan to go 144fps, Ryzen is not the best choice actually...but...you have the setup already yes?
Before you OC, see you well your FPS first.
For productivity, at the moment I see no real reason to OC yet.

Stock cooler? I would not even try to OC using this cooler.

Best setting? Each proc is special. Assuming you have all the necessary preparation (mobo, PSU, cooling, etc.), how well it can be overclocked depends on your luck. Nobody can really give you the settings, you have to find out the settings for your proc yourself, unfortunately.

yes i already have the setup, and btw how do you know if your CPU bottleneck the gpu on games ? 144 FPS is not a must man, but if i can reach 144fps on most games then ill do the overclock thing
