What happens when a driver causes my card to freeze

I recently purchased a GTX 1060 "for parts" and the listing said it worked fine without installing drivers, but it would freeze with them, should I be fine without the drivers or should I sell the card?

this means you bought a defective card and it will only work with system generic driver .

if they have it overclock to high or use it for bitcoin you always gone have issue as soon as you will ask her to work on load .
