Hello, I tried to solve the problem myself, but unsuccessful. So, while working on a desktop computer, windows 10, the ratio of 16: 9 to 4: 3 has changed. So, on each side of the desk there is 4 inches of black / free space that is inactive. The device manager displays a graphics card, its updated. In the settings / display I have only the highest resolution of 1280/1024. and no more choices regarding the graphics card. Can Anyone Help?

So, simplified - I can not get a higher resolution or change the aspect ratio, so I do not have the option in the settings / display to change the resolution to the larger. It is now 1280X1024 landscape, but the aspect ratio is 4: 3, not 16: 9. I do not have the option to choose a graphics card in settings (ATI Radeon HD 3870) but in settings / display / display adapters properties is the only option of microsoft basic display driver. No error code. The question is - how to reset the 16: 9 aspect ratio, i do not think it's a graphics card because it is displayed in the device manager. I'm not skilled with win 10 so maybe that's the problem. Every help is welcome, thank you.

Solution
Do the following, and then install the drivers from above. If this still doesn't work, you need a new graphics card, or not use Windows 10, because your GPU is really outdated.

If you have graphics or driver issues, one of the most common fixes is a clean uninstall and removal of your graphics drivers.

To uninstall your drivers, first download and run Display Driver Uninstaller, and follow it's recommendations of booting into safe mode and ect.

You'll download a compressed file called "[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip"
Right click and choose extract.
Go into the folder and run the DDU v##.##.exe

I tried, but when I try to run CCC I get a message:
Catalyst Control Center cannot be started
There are currently no settings that can be configured using
Catalyst Control Center

This will extract more files to this folder.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
Choose Yes when it asks you to boot into SafeMode.
After you've rebooted into safe mode.
When DDU comes up, if it hasn't selected your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD/Intel) then choose it from the drop down list
Press the Clean and Restart option
If a window comes up asking to disable the Windows automatic installation of display drivers click yes.

After (or before removing the old drivers, just put the new ones on the desktop or somewhere handy) rebooting back into Windows, manually download the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD, don't use auto detect, choose you GPU model and OS from the drop down lists.

Thank you very much, James! I have to admit I followed the steps, but the driver was not Windows 10, just for Windows 8. However, I chose windows 8 drivers, and OS recognized them automatically. Thanks again.

yeah, you also need a new GPU, because they stopped making drivers for it in 2013.

I know, but this PC has been so long for me to become part of the family. :) Joke, I'll change GPU and PC, but he's still running AA Proving Grounds, so I think that's a good almost 10 y old GPU :) thank you again
