Did I make a mistake?

I have a very modern computer and I have been experiencing some latency when using my video editing software(s) so I bought 16 more gigs of RAM.

Would this solve the issue?

I7-7700K (liquid cooled - OC to 5GHZ)
GPU - 1080 ti (asus)
16 gigs of 3000 mhz RAM
Maximus Hero XIII Mobo
850 PSU

Well that depends on what your limitation was. Use HWInfo64 and monitor all of your hardware to determine the bottleneck. Was the latency while editing? If so, maybe it was a memory limitation.

Yes, it was while editing, specifically during playback of the footage and making adjustments to my timeline. I will receive the RAM next week, so we'll see if it was the issue.

You can use task manager to see your memory usage. Could also be a slow drive not providing the information fast enough.
