poor performance issues with new GPU

hey I recently bought a Nvidia GTX 1060 3gb, and I don't seem to be getting the performance I should. I was wondering what the problem could be. I used DDU to uninstall all old cards, and performed a clean install. My specs are AMD A4 5300, gtx 1060, with 12gb of ram.

It's a bit hard to be precise because without information about the games and fps, we're forced to compare how your GPU is performing based on the subjective impressions of someone we haven't met! But on a very general level, an A4 5300 is a fairly basic CPU, about as powerful as Intel Core2 Duos from 2008 and running behind most of the Phenom IIs from 2009 and 2010.

You buy a APU for the excellent integrated graphics.
But, there are no real good upgrades, particularly for a gamer.
If you install a superior discrete graphics card, you will have thrown away the big advantage of the APU.
Then, you are left with a relatively weak cpu. Most games depend on only a few fast cores.

Bottom line.....
What you get with a APU is what you will live with forever.

Games such as sims, strategy and mmo depend on the performance of the single master core.
The APU is weak in that department.
Fast action games are more likely to benefit from a fast graphics card.

for instance on minecraft, and 7days to die I get 9-17 fps on lowest possible settings, rust I get avg of 30-40 on med settings. haven't played to many other games yet, I'm new to pc gaming and don't have a lot of experience yet as I'm still learning.

Are you connecting the monitor to the GPU or to the motherboard?

The RAM is also a possible issue. 12 GB is an awkward amount because in most cases, it means you're running mixed-and-matched RAM, which can also cause performance issues or worse.

And what were your old cards? I can imagine having a very poor performance in Rust, given the CPU, but your performance is lower than it should be for the other two games. I think next I'd run the benchmarking software at UserBenchmark.com to see if there's some obvious performance issue with the hardware itself.

my old card was a Radeon HD6950 which ran Minecraft better, but not 7days and rust. here is the link to the benchmark I did if you wanted to take a look at it. http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/5975153 . Would I benefit at all from a SSD upgrade, right now I'm just looking for a temporary fix while I save up money for a new MOBO and CPU. Also the ram is 2 different kinds, but I installed that before I got the GPU and my PC seem to run better at the time

While SSDs are great to have, it's not going to do anything to fix your current issues. Are you keeping your Windows install clean? And if so, have you ever done a full clean reinstall? Nagging issues that still show solid benchmarks are frequently resolved by a full install, first of the software and if that doesn't work, Windows itself (and given the age of the system, if you've never done a clean reinstall, you're past due).
