so Heres the question i am buying a build based around the i-7 8700k and the 1080ti. My question is if i play on 1080p will it bottleneck? I might not be playing on 1080p but i am just wondering. What is the recommended resolution that i should play on with a i7 8700k and a 1080 ti. I just want to have the max framrate that i can get with these two.

What resolution do you recommend that i have so that i can get the max fps that the 8700k and 1080 ti offer?

A GTX 1080 at 1080P would be more balanced, that's what I use with my i7 7700K and the GPU is right around 98% or higher normally in all the games I play. I play everything maxed out settings wise.

But I don't see anything wrong with using a GTX 1080Ti at 1080P with an I7 8700K.

Just haven't got around to getting a 2K monitor yet, don't need a new one yet so..

Don't see any screen tearing or anything and I play with VSYNC off.

If the highest fps is what you are after then 1080p would be your answer.

The goal here is to get an fps that is as close as possible to the refresh rate of your monitor.

Any fps above your monitors refresh rate are wasted and could have gone towards making the existing frames "prettier" with the "gpu horsepower" used to make them.

Sorry to ask so many questions im newer to building computers and i havent got a monitor yet, is there a monitor that you recommend? So if i get a 144hz monitor i shouldn't go over 144 fps is what you are saying? I want a good monitor but my budget is only like 100-250$ for a monitor. What is a good monitor that i should get that will get me the highest and "Prettiest" fps if i am running the 1080 ti and the 8700k.

TBH on my laptop i had i used to play CSGO, GTA V and some random games. I want to get into games like Destiny 2, Metro, and some of the heavier games that require more GPU/CPU power. I also don't have a monitor yet because this is my first build and i am deciding which monitor will give me the best quality and frames when using the 1080 ti and the 8700k.

If anything I would push the new computer question till January/February, if possible, when Nvidia plans on releasing the 11xx series, Volta.

As for your monitor;

With an fps of at least 120 fps you would need a monitor of at least 120 hertz.

The LG 24GM77 or AOC G2460PQU would fit into your budget perfectly.

Asus RoG Swift PG279Q is G-sync compatible, super fast and ultra expensive

BenQ XR3501 is 35 inches, very fast and ultra expensive.

I don't have a 1080p monitor yet because i was just deciding which monitor i should get. I said 1080p because i wasn't sure if i was getting 1080p or 1440p monitor. If i have a 1080p monitor i am able to change it to 2k/4k? Is that a thing?

DSR, dynamic super resolution makes the existing visuals higher resolution when they render.

They are downscaled to your current resolution when sent to your monitor.

This downscaling makes a crisper picture than if the graphics card simply rendered the frame at your native resolution.

Of course a picture will look clearer when rendered at 2560x1600 versus a frame rendered at 2560x1600 then downscaled to 1080p.

Since we can simply buy a monitor that won't give fps outside our refresh rate with a 1080ti, such as a monitor with 2560x1600 or 4k resolution, we should not need DSR.
