New set up, "SATA not installed"

I have bought a Gigabyte Z370P D3. It loads bios/a memory stick with Windows install disk. However, it doesn't recognise any of the SATA connections.
I have a new SSD and despite which of the 4 SATA ports I plug it into in the motherboard, the SSD is not recognised by the BIOS.
I tried plugging in my old HDD with the same result.
The SATA mode is AHCI.
Any ideas?

The power supply for the HDD wasn't working. I plugged in a different cable now it is. Windows is installing now, however the SSD still wasn't working. I must try a new power supply for that too, I'll let you know how I get on later.
@ss202sl, Would the BIOS not recognise the SSD without the Windows drivers though?
Thanks for your replies.
