i currently have a 1060ti 6 gb GPU and im looking build a dual monitor setup , what is the best way to set this up? Can you provide specific cables? will this impact my GPU?

**also on my main monitor ima be playing games like CSGO 144hz so DVI needs to be involved,,, my second monitor is 60hz capped ****

Correct. My x1800Xt from years ago died. That's the last GPU die on me. I've upgraded many times then. 8800GS, 7750, GTX460, and now my 7950. My system does what I want so unless my card dies on me again I'll be sticking with this until it no longer works for me.

Your card only has one DVI which is going to the main monitor right? VGA won't work at all, so I suggest getting an HDMI to DVI adapter. It should be all digital so any adapter should do. Should be all plug and play. You'll need to go into windows and tell it if you want to duplicate the monitor so the same image is on both, or extend so it works like a second independent monitor.

Why is everyone today quoting a post, and putting their reply in a different post. This is the third post IN A A ROW I've had to correct. Quote, enter your info, then press enter.

Other connections? I'm not sure I understand. You'll probably need an HDMI cable. But it really depends on the adapter that you pick. (As a mod they don't want us linking to things as it creates a feeling that I/Toms is endorsing something.) I can link a random example but I'd rather you pick one and I/we confirm it should work.

so just connect the DVI of the main monitor and hdmi of the second monitor to GPU? does the gpu get impacted in any way?

Impacted? I have three monitors and a TV (fourth monitor) attached to my GPU. The TV is a native HDMI to HDMI. One monitor is a native DVI to DVI connection. The two side monitors are using active mDP to DVI connections. You are only using two monitors and Nvidia uses things differently so you shouldn't need any active adapters. There is a slight power draw increase when you use two or more monitors, and there used to be a slight decrease in frame rates, though I haven't seen any recent numbers on the performance decrease. It is/was a very slight decrease so I wouldn't worry about it. I'm not sure why you keep asking about issues or problems. What have you heard that your worried about it? As I said, I'm running four monitors off of my one card. I've been running at least two monitors for over a decade. Possibly even over 15yrs of at least two monitors now. It's super simple.

The GPU could fry still sure. Even if you had only one monitor. Most likely to happen while gaming, not having two monitors. Do your best to keep it cool and it should work fine for as long as you'd want it. They do die however. Nothing you can do will stop that.
