Is my GPU Dead?

I want to start by saying Alienwares are horrible. I purchased an Alienware 17 R2 laptop brand new for around $1,600 in 2015 and every month for a year there has been a new issue. The warranty expired in April so Dell will not even speak to me. I’ve been told by GeekSquad before that my computer has signs of heat damage and probably won’t last much longer after they replaced he thermal paste.

Let’s move on, this morning I launched Friday the 13th and was horrified by red dots covering the screen. I continued to play and then the computer crashed to a blue screen error. It was like this for every game.

I have two graphics cards.
An intel(R) HD 4600 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M.

My question is, what should I try? Is the GPU dead?

This certainly does appear to be heat related. What model of Alienware do you have? You may be able to change out the Nvidia GPU as Alienwares use MXM slot, upgrade-able GPUs.

Also, are your intake/exhaust ports clean and allowing good airflow?

It’s an Alienware 17 R2 laptop. I forgot to include that in the thread. Apologies.

The vents are cleaned out however, I had an issue in the past where I fell asleep with it in the bed and it overheated.
