Hello wise pc gurus! I have some issues with my new build that I can't seem to figure out. So this is my current setup:
Ryzen 5 1600x
MSI x370 gaming pro
Corsair LPX-3000 8gb
EVGA GTX 1070
Coolermaster b120 watercooler
Corsair TX550 psu
Kinstson 250gb SSD
WD Green 1tb hd

After setting up BIOS for the first time and loading Windows, everything appeared to be fine, however after trying to test game performance, the game crashed. After restarting the computer, I got the blue screen of death with the code umnountable_boot_volume (i had the system files on the SSD). I tried all of the possible recovery options, however there was no damage to the files on the SSD, yet none of the recovery options seemed to work. After plugging in the SSD into a different SATA port everything appeared to work fine without any issues (aka continuous restarts and random black screens).

Furthermore, while everything seemed to work fine on basic tasks such as browsing the internet, loading up any game caused almost instant crashes and even when the game managed to launch, my screen would systematically go dark and there was noticeable artifacting. Before you ask, my cpu temperatures were well below 60 degrees (the temp does tend to jump, aka 31-40-35-36-42) and my ram works fine too (memtest64 and running each of the ram sticks individually). I decided that the problem must be my GPU, because when I replaced it with my 1060, games worked fine. Upon reinstalling the 1070, all of the problems came back. However, when I installed the 1070 into a differnet PCI slot, games started to work, but I still get occasional crashes and even a blue screen of death.

Apologies for the lengthy question, but can you guys shed some light on what is causing this? Is it my motherboard? GPU? Both? Thank you in advance for your time and wise words of guidance!

Yes, its a clean install to a brand new SSD. I even reinstalled Windows again after wiping both of my drives to make sure that that my OS wasn't corrupted.
