Hi guys, I'm currently still running my now ancient

I5 2500k at 4.9Ghz
AsRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB 1600Mhz CL9 DDR3

Lately I feel it's stated to struggle a bit, and have decided to bite the bullet and upgrade all three at once to save hassle in the future, and will use the old kit to build my better half a decent enough machine to run older games such as WoW on.

What is the general consensus on CPU's with a view to gaming? I have a budget of around £450 but can go a bit beyond this depending on the spec.

I have my eye on a I5 8600k but am not decided on motherboard and RAM yet.

Many thanks.

You should get 8700 or 8700K. 8700 can turbo boost all 6 cores to 4.3 Let's say you OC 8600K to 5.0, that's only 16% (5.0/4.3) bump over 8700 but you lose 6 threads. 6 extra threads worth more than 16% bump. 8600K is at best equal to 7700K; go to youtube to check it out.

Thanks for the input. I thought i'd try and save a bit of money with the 8600k but you raise a good point, and the price difference is tiny. Thanks again!
