My wife wants me to get rid of our home theater system so i decided to hook it up with my computer. I am using P9x79 and i planning to connect:
YAMAHA RX -V3800
KLIPSCH RF 63 as fronts
KLIPSCH RS 52 as rears
KLIPSCH RC 62 as center
KLIPSCH SUBWOOFER

I will be using it for gaming :) and listening to the music. After doing research I found out that the top of the line card is ASUS ESSENCE STX II. Is it a right choice for me? It looks this card is kind of old.

P.S. i am also using astro A40 as my headphones which i plan to connect straight to the sound card.

Solution

you can use the opticable too just enable the DTS...

So which one do you like more?
And I really don't care about bass because my sub has its own settings which shake my house anyway

What about this Desktop audio control module. Is it better to connect headphones to it or directly to the card? And, are you using the daughter card?

Yes i am using the ACM too for headphones and Using the Daughter card too for Optical connection to my Logitech Z906

Thanks for help. I am going with Zxr. However I have one more question. What is the best way to connect Yamaha amp to that sound card? I was thinking RCA cable to designated channel input from sound card to amp or just optical cable?

That's how my amp looks like from the back

you can use the opticable too just enable the DTS encoding in Creative sound blaster Audio Software so that the sound processing is done by the Zxr
