What would be the best pc upgrade to start with?

Hi, a while back i bought my gaming pc which I've had for a while now. I was thinking about an upgrade but i have no idea where to start with what upgrade I should think about getting first. I was hoping to eventually get a gtx 1070 to replace my gtx 1050 ti but i believe my pc needs some more work before that. My current specs are
CPU:i5-6402P 2.8 GHz Quad core (6th gen)
GPU: GTX 1050 ti 4GB
Hard drive: 1TB SATA III (SATA 6.0GBs)
MOBO: MSI H110M PRO-VD Intel H110 (Socket 1151) Micro ATX Motherboard
PSU:Cooler master 500w ATX PSU
RAM:8Gb 2133MHz DDR4 Kingston, 2x Dimm slots (1 free)
Any recommendations would be appreciated. It would be really great if any specific names for components were mentioned since apart from graphics cards and processors, I'm fairly clueless as to what specific versions of other components are better than my current ones. :)

The first upgrade imo should be the GFX card. I'd choose one of the 1060 6GB GFX cards.

That PSU, while not great or beautiful will power the 1060 quite easily.

The next upgrade I'd apply would be more RAM. I would buy a 16GB kit and replace the 8GB. Mixing old and new RAM isn't recommended. It most likely will work but there are times when it won't. Buying kits is the only way to ensure compatibility.

This just leaves me with the decision between the 1070 and 1060 and from what I understand u think the 1070 isn't great value. Do u think the 1060 will be much better than the 1050 ti since I'm kinda lost between the bad value of the 1070 or whether the 1060 provides enough of a difference to the 1050 ti to be worth getting.

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GV-N1070G1-GAMING-8GD-REV2-0-Computer/dp/B075FTH3G7 is my recommendation if you choose to upgrade to the 1070 which would offer a significant performance boost.

The 1080 is less than $100 more than the 1070. Way out of your league, I don't think it is.

The 1060 wouldn't be a big enough of an upgrade imo.

It's best to ask your questions in here. These questions are archived so any help you receive is passed on to the next one who needs it and reads this thread.

Exactly which PSU is that? A 500W PSU is needed for the 1070 or the 1080. Quality is most important.

Apart from wattage the card itself will need PCIe supplemental power cables. The cards will either have 6 or 8 pin connections ready for those cables.

Connections will of course vary from the 1070 to the 1080 but also could vary between card manufacturers such as MSI and Gigabyte.

The most I know about the PSU is that its a 500w cooler master ATX PSU so I geuss it could power at 1070. Although, elswhere I was told i need a CPU upgrade before getting a 1070...

Not in my opinion. The 6420 is so very close to the 6500. What were they suggesting? A whole new rig or the 6700? The 6600 would be worthless and the 6700 would help but is certainly not even close to necessary.

I can't give a green light for the Cooler Master PSU. It can power those cards but it's the quality I am not sure of.

They just suggested some kind of CPU upgrade (I'm guessing the meant something within the kind of spectrum of an i7). When u say the quality of my PSU, what do u mean? I mean, it works fine and has done for the time I have had it...
