Hello everyone, this is my first post on Tom's Hardware.

A couple of weeks ago, my MSI Radeon HD 7850 1GB GDDR5 died. I baked it in oven and it worked for two weeks straight and then died again. I am therefore looking for adequate replacement. I live in Serbia and tech prices here are higher than average, so i will be posting equivalent price in $ (Google currency converter).

My specs:

  • CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 750K 3.4GHz 4MB FM2
    MOBO: MSI FM2-A55M-E33
    8Gb RAM
    Power Supply: Chieftec GPS-500A8 500W
Monitor: LG 23MP68VQ-P (has AMD FreeSync)
My budget is ~200$. Do i have to build new PC config or is it possible getting 1050Ti/RX560 and not bottlenecking the CPU (or MOBO)/ running out of power.

GPU prices (all are DDR5):

  • MSI GeForce GTX1050 2G ~150$
    Zotac GeForce GTX1050 Mini 2GB ~150$
    Asus Radeon RX560 2GB ~150$
    Asus Radeon RX560 OC 2GB ~155$
    Inno3D GeForce GTX1050 Compact X1 2GB ~155$
    Asus GeForce GTX1050 2GB DDR5 ~158$
    Powercolor Radeon RX560 Powercolor 4GB ~170$
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX1050 OC 2GB ~170$
    Gigabyte Radeon RX560 4GB OC REV 2.0 ~172$
    MSI Radeon RX460 OC 4GB GDDR5 ~180$
    Inno3D GeForce GTX1050Ti Compact X1 4GB ~190$
    MSI GeForce GTX1050Ti OC 4GT ~205$
Sorry if the list is too long, there are more GPU-s available, i tried posting just some of them in price range.

Solution
The cheapest 1050ti is easily the best choice.

That's close to a 7970 in comparison to your old 7850 so essentially around 3 tiers higher performance wise.

Hi volkgren,
prices are in USD, and those are the lowest available in my country from trusted store, other stores offer even higher prices. Ordering from Amazon or some other online service doesn't pay off, import taxes are high (i think maybe Brasil is only worse, i've read the prices there are sky-high). I don't live near the border so i don't have an option of smuggling a GPU from Hungary. :D

I forgot to mention in original post, my goal is gaming at 1080p 60fps.
Also, bonus question for everyone: if power supply allows it, could i get better CPU cooler (current is stock) and overclock the CPU?

The RX560 is very expensive for its performance. To be honest everything looks very expensive! If you want to find out what that screen is capable of get a used amd card from your local ads or from ebay. An R9 380 for $140-150 would do the trick. But be aware that the seller must be trustworthy.

Thank you all for your answers! I've picked and ordered MSI GeForce GTX1050Ti OC 4GT (last on the list), the reason being two coolers and full size (i don't trust in compact cards) and 4Gb's of VRAM. Not sure if i will be able to use it to it's full potential, but maybe i upgrade whole system in the future.
