Mine bitcoin with a GTX1080 with no MB, CPU, or RAM.
I'm wondering if i can mine with like Nicehash with my gtx1080, with all the pc parts other than the MB, CPU, and RAM, because I'm still waiting for the Maximus X Code to come into stock.
I do have a PSU and a Windows 10 Gaming Laptop, along with a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 2.

Solution
I know for certain that eGPU block can work, and that it can be used for mining... but, I have no idea if that is compatible with your laptop. Also, that is an old riser. The newer ones have 4 caps, that only has three... The difference in price is less than $5, I wouldn't trust my $500 GPU on the old gen riser, they added more caps for a reason.

Ok, I already know a bit about eGPU's, and I would like to know if this would work:
- I have proper power for everything(Corsair 750 PSU with a bunch of cables)
- I'm planning to buy this eGPU Block: https://item.jd.com/11031014689.html#crumb-wrap (its a chinese website because i live in china) Basically, it comes with:
- x16 slot; USB 3 port; 6-pin power port
- Also comes with a USB 3 > Micro USB > mini PCIe Cable (which I'm going to plug into my laptop slot)
- Also comes with a 6-pin to what I believe to be a SATA cable, which i wont need.
I have power and cables and everything, I assume that this is what i have to do:

  • eGPU Dock <6-pin> PSU
    eGPU Dock < GPU
GPU < Adittoinal GPU power cables
eGPU <USB3 to mPCIe> Laptop mPCIe slot
or do i also have to plug GPU <HDMI> Laptop

My laptop is a Rog Gl502VT with a mini PCIe, pretty sure it will work if I get a USB network Card
