Hello, I recently bought the first few parts for my first gaming pc. I however don't have the cpu and ram yet because I'm broke right now :D I decided to try putting my gtx 970 in a 10 year old (or so) windows vista 32 bit desktop. Fitting it in was quit an adventure but eventually I made it fit. I used my new powersupply to power the gpu because the stock psu is only 230w. I connected the green and black wire from the 24pin connector for the psu to work. Here comes the problem. The pc booted right up and seemed fine. I went to the nvidea website to dowload the drivers wich I then installed. However when I go to device manager it detects the card but won't use it and states it doesnt have the correct drivers. I then also installed the drivers in two other ways (multiple times) via the device manager. ''Select the nvidea driver and make it install'' and ''right tap the nvidea driver installer and tap open, install the right filles and then install these via the device manager''. still no results. When I open msi afterburner it doesnt even detect the card. What I don't get either that the monitor is connected to the gpu wich is not working but the monitor still works (as in display the screen). So somehow it sends the display from the intergrated through the gpu to the monitor wich doesnt make sence either. If the gpu doesnt work correctly I would think I just wouldnt have a display unless I plug the monitor into the motherboard. None of this makes sence to me and I'm getting a bit frustrated, I would really appreciate some help. Thanks!

Both should be the same. Nvidia is GeForce, so if it lists drivers - as drivers - then they will be the same. The GeForce experience is basically just an automatic driver update program, with fancy things thrown in like compatibility testing, and game optimisations. It works quite well for me on windows 10. Just pops up with a new driver download occasionally.

Okay, I am now on the pc with the gtx 970. I do infact have a E8400 but I downloaded this driver: https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/102378 I will now download and run DDU and then install the drivers you linked and pray for it to work :D But how did you get these drivers? I just put in :
Geforce
Geforce 900 series
Geforce GTX 970
Windows Vista 32-bit
English (UK)
Reccomended/Certified
Shouldn't we end up with the same drivers then?

There will be minor differences between the driver versions, as there are regular updates. My GTX970 receives update once a month on average. Good luck with the process, and dont forget to follow the instructions on the DDU website!

Alright, so I ran a full clear and restart from save mode and then reinstalled the nvidea drivers. Still didn't work. Now I restarted the the computer because sometimes that helps after a driver install but it still doesnt work. It still says something like ''insuffisient data to run device'' but in dutch. :(

I bought the gpu used so maybe the gpu is just broken. I am trying it wit a computer of a friend of mine friday. I really really hope that that pc was the problem and not the gpu itself :(

I already pulled out the gpu and put the old pc away again but something did come to mind. Could it be the wrong drivers? You can download drivers from both the nvidia website and the geforce website. Maybe the nvidia website offers actual drivers and the geforce website some addons for a "NEW AND IMPROVED GAMING EXPERIENCE" . Not sure though because this is my first build.
