Hey, I ordered parts during black Friday and some of them have arrived so I am educating myself how to assemble my first rig. I read the mobo (Asus rog strix b350-f) manual and it says I must install both the 24 and 8 pin connectors. My PSU is http:// and I don't have the 8 pin atx cable.

Do I need to buy that or I can use the pci-e cable to power the mobo?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Solution
Is that a picture of the cables you have? If so then the cpu cable you need is that 4+4 pin cable labeled cpu. 4+4 pin cables work in 4-pin and 8-pin ports. Do not use a pci-e cable in the cpu port

Ah, so the 8 pin atx connector is for the cpu? The motherboard manual is not very clear. And I just read I have to force the pci-e cable to connect it because it's not mean to go there. This was embarrassing... Thank you ever so much for clarifying this.
